The Team

Jan van Dijk

Architect

Jan van Dijk is our Managing Director with over 30 years of industry experience. He has completed multiple major building projects in Ireland, UK, Poland, and the Middle East. He holds a masters in Business Administration and has lectured extensively in Building Construction in UCD School of Architecture for many years. Jan is a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Derek McEnteggart

Building Surveyor

Derek McEnteggart is our registered Building Surveyor with over 20 years of experience in the construction and design industry. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying, H. Dip. in Construction and is a member of IOSH. Derek has accumulated a wealth of knowledge working on a vast range of projects varying in scale and building type including commercial, residential, industrial, leisure, retail, public and private sector.

Michéal Finnegan

Chartered Engineer

Michéal Finnegan is our Senior Manager and holds a BEng degree (Hons) in Structural Engineering along with an MSc in Construction & Project Management. He is also a Chartered Engineer and a member of various professional bodies including Engineers Ireland, IStructE, IOSH and IHEEM. Micheal has been Assigned Certifier on projects of various sizes across all sectors since the inception of BC(A)R. Micheal is responsible for the development of our certification procedures to ensure we fully comply with the most up-to-date legislative requirements

Charlie Beattie

Chartered Engineer

Charlie Beattie is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the construction industry gained while working as a consulting engineer, client representative and in contracting. Charlie is a Member of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, the Institution of Structural Engineers and an Incorporated Member of the Association for Project Safety.

We emanate from an architectural practice, which sets us apart from other assigned certification firms. Registered and chartered architects are part of our in-house team, which means our knowledge of building regulations is more comprehensive than companies led by surveyors or engineers.

Our team of civil and structural engineers supported by sub-contract mechanical, electrical, acoustic and fire engineers assist project managers and clients to identify programme risks associated with statutory compliance in order to plan accordingly.

Over the years, we have amassed a wealth of knowledge that has proven invaluable since the inception of BC(A)R for not only identifying problems but actively assisting the design team in achieving solutions that ensure compliance.
